We Are the Champions inspires personal growth and success

Since 1977, sports teams and individuals who are simply in need of a major boost of motivation have amped up Queen's We Are the Champions from their speakers to take in the inspirational lyrics emanating from Freddie Mercury's gilded vocal chords.

While many consider the song to be a reference to physical dominance and defeat over the enemy, it can also be seen as a ballad about eternal love taking over the ever-present hate that must be challenged on a daily basis.

Additionally, the rock band views this challenge against evil as one all humans must take on as a whole, regardless of race, nationality or religion.

"But it's been no bed of roses / No pleasure cruise / I consider it a challenge before the whole human race / And I ain't gonna lose," Mercury sang.

Author and philosopher Ilchi Lee has said that world peace is a matter of each individual taking the personal responsibility to challenge negativity and embrace positivity. It is his hope that this kind of powerful love will overflow and touch the rest of humanity, but he makes it clear that it may be no bed of roses.
