All over the world, when individuals are getting themselves ready for an intense physical or mental endurance test, many simply put their headphones on and blast inspiration straight into their eardrums in the form of Survivor's Eye of the Tiger.
While the song was written for the movie Rocky III, its message goes far beyond telling the tale of a down-on-his-luck boxer. Rather, the "rival" referred to in the song may be thought of as negativity and hate, things that individuals strive to overcome in their lives to achieve enlightenment.
"It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight / Rising up to the challenge of our rival / And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night / And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger," sang Dave Bickler.
The chorus reflects the struggle that individuals must endure to overcome hate and embrace love. It's a never-ending battle of personal development and growth, which people should keep in mind so as not to lose focus on the final end goal of ultimate love and awakening.
